Greetings, Jackson!
We apologize for the lack of updates but finding reliable wifi has been a challenge. We left Rome Friday under beautiful blue skies and headed for Florence. We had 3 wonderful days of museum visits, shopping and eating. We are personally responsible for an upswing in the Italian economy. Monday we caught the train to Milan, successfully maneuvered the Milan subway system and caught the local train to the ferry across the lake from Verbania. Everyone was safely delivered to their hosts as we began the exchange portion of our trip. We have been at school for two days and have met with a ton of Italian students. Tonight is the farewell party?! Go figure. But it's actually because tomorrow is a national holiday(the 150 anniversary of the unification if Italy). Apparently after 150 years, they are feeling confident the unification will take.
Then Friday night everyone will be getting packed. Our flight Saturday leaves from Milan at 10:15 and arrives in NY at 2:35, or 1:35 your time. We then catch a flight to Atlanta and then, God willing, we get to Jackson about 10:30 pm. If you have any strings you can pull with Delta, now would be the time. We have had a great experience. The kids are a delight to travel with.
Now we are off for our next adventure.
Love from Verbania

En France

On arrival!

Out strolling

At the Trevi

Roma day 1ish?

Last night we toured Rome by dark seeing the Spanish Steps, piazza
navonna, the pantheon, and the Trevi fountain. We ate pizza and pasta
and walked walked walked! Today we are off to the Vatican! Everyone is
in great spirits, but the two chaperones are experiencing their age!
Hillary is practicing her Italian confidently, money is being spent on
gelato by Emily, and TaylorC gave us a lesson about Bernini's statue
of the four rivers fountain at piazza navonna. Ciao all more later!

Plan B

It's been an adventure in patience if nothing else. Thanks to Delta we
are in the "Comfort" Inn which is reminscent of the place they turned
the holy family away from- there seems to be something resembling a
barn out the window. We've been told we are near the airport but none
us know for sure as the shuttle driver crammed so many of us in that
it felt like we were cattle being loaded in for our last ride to
auction. Our day has been filled with strange issues. Delta's
marketing strategy is baffling. Apparently it is more cost effective
to leave 10 minutes early and not wait on 18 passengers than to put
them up in a hotel, feed them on $6.00 vouchers and hold their luggage
hostage. We did, however, all end up with nifty travel bags
containing: a toothbrush, a deodorant, and a t-shirt. If they strand
us another day, we are expecting sweatpants and small doses of Xanax.
We will spend tomorrow at the Atlanta airport shopping in the duty
free store and taking turns in the massage chair at brookstone.
We will keep you updated!
